The Night of Laylat al-Qadr, the night of the Qur’an

The Holy Quran is best read on this night. Tonight, even if we are not worthy of forgiveness, Allah  forgives His servants… Because tonight is the night of excuse… Tonight is the night of Kalamullah… Tonight is the blessed night when the word of Allah is revealed to the Lord of the worlds, Prophet Muhammad  and meets us through him…

Laylat al-Qadr is mercy and blessing. Whoever fulfils this night properly, all his past sins will be forgiven, as the sultan of the worlds  said.

Laylat al-Qadr Night is one of the only nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan, which honours our house with the good news of mercy at the beginning, forgiveness in the middle and salvation from the torment of hell at the end. To be able to reach this blessed night in which the Holy Qur’an was revealed to the world sky from the Holy Qur’an, to be able to reach this blessed night and to be able to do justice to it, is not granted to every servant.

Imagine!… It is such a moment that he comes to you as a guest once a year. If you are a good host, he leaves you satisfied. And then…

Allah says in the 3rd verse of Surah al-Qadr that this night is better than thousand months. In other words, those who spend this night in worship gain reward as if they had worshipped for 83 years.

When the last 10 days of Ramadan entered, the Prophet  would increase his night prayers, enter itikaf which means commit oneself to something, wake up his Ahl al-Bayt and companions, and become more sensitive compared to other periods of time.

Hz. Aisha  said:

-O Allah, if I have the honour of reaching Laylat al-Qadr, how should I pray? Upon this, our Prophet  taught her the following prayer:

“O Allah, You are forgiving, You love to forgive, forgive me. Forgive me too.” (Tirmidhi, Da’avat 89)

Dear friends

Let’s embrace the Holy Qur’an tonight, let’s seek the glad tidings that our Lord has sent us tonight. Tonight, let us relate to our guide, our leader, the servant of two worlds, our Lord  even more, let us increase our worship, let us increase the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. Let’s increase charity, smile… As a Muslim family, let’s meet in prayers, let’s spend the morning in the prayer rug. Let our hearts overflow with the love of Allah  and the Prophet.

On such a blessed night, let us face our mistakes and do our accounting before the time of death comes. Let us repent, regret and shed tears.

Let us have the Holy Qur’an on our tongues and the prayers of the Prophet on our tongues. Let us ask for forgiveness not only for ourselves but also for our other Muslim brothers and sisters.

May Allah make us all one of His servants who are subject to forgiveness. May Allah facilitate the work of all our Muslim brothers and sisters, especially in our country and in any part of the world, who are in difficulty, suffering, struggling with troubles and calamities, and may He lead them from the darkness of the night to bright mornings.

Farewell, O Ramadan…

May our night be blessed. May Allah grant us all the opportunity to reach many more Ramadan months and many more Layla-i Qadr in health, forgiveness and peace, to be able to realise them properly and to gain their consent.

(Amin)
